The filmmaker's Manual: A Complete Guide to Digital ageth is a complete collection of every conceivable film and video maker tradition. Most of it is understandable to the reader, even high medium low tech - like me. Although at times beyond my current needs, over time, most or even all that could be useful. It depends on how I get into this hobby. Bob Belenky

I have a whole library of books on cinema - this book (especially the updated 2008) is fantastic - which covers all aspects of cinema - not just the technical part - including working with actors, the address and some basic concepts of film theory. Of course, it is better technically - including HD production and post production. Very little of my collection is approaching for the width and depth.

I have read many books on photography, and is by far the best I've seen. This is a very well written, comprehensive book on all aspects of filmmaking. The authors have worked very hard, obviously in this book, and it shows. For example, there are numerous references in the book as "before reading this, you should read pages 22-25." This kind of cross-references take much time to do it with precision. Cost is a real flight of the amount of information it contains. In my opinion, is the only book you need in the film. If you think not, at least read it first. I think all your questions will be answered. I can not recommend enough. Daniel O.
